Congratulations to Doug Rose, Distribution Manager for Atlantic Canada, on being named a 2025 Impact Champion by Canadian Grocer! Doug was recognized for his outstanding leadership in community service, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability. 

In 2024, Doug: 

  • Helped hire and support associates with disabilities through Ready, Willing & Able. 

  • Led DEI training for leaders across the Atlantic region. 

  • Launched local product donation partnerships delivering 175,000+ units annually. 

  • Organized five Good Neighbour projects with 250 volunteer hours. 

  • Piloted a food waste upcycling initiative to support zero waste goals. 

Doug leads by example—creating a more inclusive, community-focused, and sustainable future. Bravo, Doug!

We’re proud to share that Bimbo Canada has won a 2025 Canadian Grocer Impact Award for Community Service for our commitment to Nourishing A Better World—from addressing food insecurity and supporting mental health to championing diversity, reconciliation, and environmental sustainability. 

In 2024, our teams across the country: 

  • Donated over 3.2 million units of food to more than 120 local partners. 

  • Raised $25,500 for the Downie Wenjack Fund through nationwide participation in the Walk for Wenjack.  

  • Planted hundreds of trees and built gardens in partnership with Canopée and other green groups. 

  • Delivered mental health training to 1,265 associates and supported 12 CMHA affiliates. 

  • Trained nearly 1,500 associates in Diversity, Equity & Belonging and expanded accessibility efforts. 

Together, we’re making a real impact in the communities where we live and work.

Bimbo Canada has won a 2024 Canadian Grocer Impact Award for Sustainability for our bold steps in decarbonizing our business—not just through ambitious targets, but through tangible, impactful results.  

Since launching our 10-year sustainability strategy in 2021, we have achieved:  

  • 21% reduction in direct (Scope 1) emissions since 2019. 

  • Zero Scope 2 emissions thanks to our renewable electricity project investments. 

  • Operation of 8 Energy Star-Certified industrial facilities, which is more than any other company in Canada.  

  • Completion of the Energy Star Challenge at two facilities (Calgary and Moncton), reducing plant energy intensity by 10% in under five years. 

 Operating more sustainably not only aligns with our core values as an organization, but it is also good for business. We take environmental stewardship seriously and recognize that the food system has a big impact on the planet.
