Voluntary Recall in Ontario and Quebec
Bimbo Canada is conducting a voluntary recall of sliced breads that were sold through various retailers. This recall follows the discovery that Sifto brand Hy·Grade Salt, used in production, may contain metal pieces.
The products are being recalled strictly as a precautionary measure. Salt is sifted before use and all finished products are passed through a metal detector, which did not detect any metal particles. There have been no reports of illness related to the consumption of the recalled products.
The affected products are Dempster’s, Compliments, Harvest Gold, and Sunshine Sliced Breads sold in Ontario and one product sold in Quebec which is the POM Signature Everything Bread. The products have Best Before Dates of November 5 through November 12 and contain Bakery code 2309. No other products are affected by this recall. The products were distributed only in Ontario and Quebec and were removed from the marketplace effective November 6, 2024.
Consumers are our first priority and we have taken all necessary steps to mitigate any potential risk and eliminate further occurrences. This includes halting production and reviewing Good Manufacturing Procedures with all associates at dedicated meetings.
Consumers can call our hotline at 1-800-465-5515 or visit the CFIA website, www.inspection.gc.ca for further information.
